I think its a 3.10.01 issue. Others are also reporting its not working.

Ok - I have to say I was skeptical. I have a Iphone 4; jailbroke on 4.3.3 and bb 4.10.01 using Gevey Ultra from ApplenBerry and autounlocking with FuriousMod.
I was reluctant to upgrade to 5.0.1 because I really didn't want to loose the convenience of the FuriousMod auto unlock.
There have been alot of postings her on Modmyi and over at Macrumors about a FuriousMod tweak that would work with Gevey on Ios 5.0.1
I finally took the "plunge" tonight and upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 and installed the FuriousMod "mod" from the Squuiid repo and "it worked perfectly!!!
Here is what I did:
1) Backed up via itunes before starting
2) Used Redsnow (mac) 9.10.b3 to created custom 5.0.1 firmware with preserved 4.10.01 baseband
3) Restored cfw via itunes
4) Rebooted and activated; setup with itunes backup
5) Jaibroke (Redsnow) and installed Cydia
I then rebooted with the TMobile and Gevey
followed the process for manual unlock (e.g 112 dial, etc)
Got TMobile signal
Then went to Cydia; added source //cydia.myrepospace.com/Squuidd/ and added FuriousMod(tweaked) 1.1.0
Rebooted and the auto-unlock worked flawlessly 1st time.
I was a skeptic, but this was worth taking a shot at!!!

You followed the manual unlock process. Does the black Gevey screen appear when you restart the iPhone or does the FuriousMod automatically remove it when you reboot? When I used the Gevey Supreme, I never got the x3groove mod to work, but all I had to do was hit Cancel upon reboot. Anyway to get this mod working with x3groove? I have no idea how to deconstruct the deb to see the fixes.
I see that there's a fix over at keyoke's Repository - MyRepoSpace.com Don't forget to add the second / when you add the repo from Manage/Sources in Cydia. If you have the x3groove, install the 1.0.2 fix and not the 1.1.0 although some people say 1.0.1 works much better than 1.0.2. Thanks to keyoke over at macrumors.com.Last edited by duffjr; 01-07-2012 at 12:18 AM.

Manual process only 1st time to make sure I had working signal before installing FuriousMod fix.
After installing the fix, I have rebooted several times and the auto process worked flawlessly.

Some users are reporting problems with the 3.10.01 baseband. My phone has the 3.10.01 baseband and I notice that this tweak does not work 100%. Sometimes upon reboot, it takes a 10 second toggle of airplane mode and another reboot to get it working. I have been using it fine since I got my Gevey in the mail though.

Seems there have been some problems with 3.10 bb and other problems with different gevey versions. I can confirm that official Gevey Ultra on 4.10.01 preserved bb at IOS 5.0.1 with the FuriousMod 1.1.0 works great
I have seen cydia.furiousmod.com repo now has FuriousMod 2.0, but don't see anywhere that this is an official update to IOS 5.0.1.
Anyone know anything about this?

I can confirm furiousmod 2.0 from the official repo works on iOS 5, and seems to work better for 3.10.01 than my patch. It would be best to uninstall my patch from wherever you got it, and install the official one.

UltrasnowCN is the alternative off furiosmod
I've fixed the manual process of dialling without furiousmod, there is an alternative of furiosmod on cydia and it works on iOS 5 to and makes any geveysim to work like gevey ultra.
here is the link of tutorial with video:
How to make any GEVEY-SIM work without dialing 112

FuriousMod 2.0 is out and functioning perfectly for me.
FuriousMod 2.0 from http:/cydia.furiousmod.com Repo
The first two times I rebooted my phone I had no luck. The third time and every time since then it has been 100% working.
I am very pleased I don't have to use the manual unlock any more.
I am running an iPhone 4 / custome 5.0.1 preserved Base band of 2.10.04 With a true Gevey Ultra purchased from AppleBerryBadges? We don't need no stinking badges!
