Issues with iPhone 3GS and iOS 5 with iPad Baseband
Ok, I restored to iOS 5 with a custom ipsw. I then Installed ultrasn0w, and followed the setup, and did NOT enable location service. I also reflashed the ipad baseband. I then enabled it later and the baseband seemed to keep crashing everytime i enable location services. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Did you check to see if you have some incompatible Cydia tweaks installed?

Just turn off the locations

Ahhhh I see what you guys are talking about. It's not enabling locations that causes the problems, it's using the locations. I thought it was a problem with the find my phone app but same thing happens using map app with locations. It will work for 3 seconds then phone signal and wifi drop out to come back a few seconds later and repeat the cycle. I guess disabling locations is the only option til they find a fix. I dont use locations much anyway.
For the record, 3GS, old baseband, used sn0wbreeze to jb last night. Every thing else seems fine.

Yeap
Just did my parents iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom = un-tethered)
SnowBreeze Preserved BB ISPW Creation
pwned DFU
iTunes shift or Option Restore from custom ISPW
I activated mines with a non working AT&T SIM (Original Phones Carrier sim)
On set up don't use location and don't use find my phone
Boots up normally Safari and Cydia working
BUT Safari had a blank icon (THOUGH it is working)
Installed UltraSn0w to unlock
Rebooted and so forth
T-Mobile and everything was functional.
But the Safari Blank icon remained.
My idea of trying to fix it was install openSHSH
go into the files and clear the Springboard Caches for the Icons
BUT i did not have to do that, after installing openSHSH
I think it caused reloading the springboard anyway
Result is everything is working

When I did the install, I had no cydia tweaks installed, nothing. It started this right off the bat. And I did follow the directions from the dev team about the locations services being turned off during setup. Thanks!

It seems like location services is messing up T-Mobile right now. I moved from a 3GS/4.3.3/05.11 to 5.0 and iPad BB (made a boo-boo), and it seems that even unchecking Location then enabling later causes issues when you use Location Services.
We'll need a fix to be released somewhere on Cydia I guess.

Fix was released this morning, check iPhone Dev Team RedSn0w Beta page.

I read the fix on the dev team website. Does this mean I'd have to restore my phone by creating a new cfw with redsn0w??
Edit: Just tried pointing Redsn0w to iOS 5 and proceeding with the jailbreak (with all the box unchecked on redsn0w) without success. I still have the same problem afterwards.Last edited by plm42; 10-18-2011 at 03:08 PM.

It only works if phone has been hactivated. I just went through this and it worked. Use Redsn0w to deactivate (only box checked). Then let it do it's thing. Then go back into Redsn0w and uncheck everything. Let it do it's thing. Go into Cydia and install SAM (need to add repo). After all that everything should work.

RockOAR do you get any battery loss with that method ?
For some odd reason when i used that method back in 4.3.5 my battery was dying like super fast....
Wonder if they have fixed SAM and all the old tweak tools yet.iPhone 4 AT&T on T-Mobile | iOS 5.0.1 w/ Preserve BB 04.10.01 | w/ Gevey Ultra Blue | un-Tethered | non-JB

I have to admit that I added a step. I still have the AT&T sim. So once I hactivated I opened the SAM Utilities and reverted to stockifification. Then deleted SAm, opened iTunes, plugged in phone and reactivayed with ATT sim. The whole back and forth process took about a half hour but location services work and battery is solid.
