    Default iOS 5 activation

So the other day I updated my 3GS to iOS 5. After going through the little set-up screen it got stuck at the part where it activates your phone. Do I have to be on an official carrier in order to do that? I'm on T-Mobile so I was wondering if I could.

All you need is a ATT sim for 1 minute. Borrow from a friend or buy one cheap online.

You need an ATT sim to activate the phone? You can't do it with a TMO sim?

TMo sim comes up as incompatible carrier during activation. I tore my whole house apart before I found the AT&T sim that I got with the phone when I bought it.

Damn, I don't have an ATT sim. Any recommendations on where to purchase, just for the purpose of activation.

Your friends. I'm sure you have friends that are on AT&T.
