Default 3GS JB with sn0wbreeze - good to go for iOS 5 with redsn0w?

I got my 3GS this summer and jailbroke and unlocked it with redsn0w. Due to a stupid mistake, I screwed up my installation and was unable to install anything. Trying every hacktivation software out there, I finally succeeded. I'm pretty sure it was sn0wbreeze, but I'm not positive.

1.) is there a way to find out, what I used to jailbreak my iPhone?

2.) when iOS 5 gets released on the 12th, is it safe to use redsn0w? Or do I, once I used a specific software, always have to use that?

I don't want to screw it up again, because back then, for a day or so I thought I'd bricked my phone

Yes, but can I use the updated redsn0w for 5.0 on top of my existing sn0wbreeze 4.3 jailbreak/unlock, or do I have to use sn0wbreeze for iOS5 as well?

(I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, sorry about that)
