So just bought an iphone 3gs second hand which has been restored to 4.3.5 (i dont know what that 8b2.... stuff is when identifying firmware but assuming its serial) i used tinyumbrella previous and its ...8n5d... bootlaoder 6.4 m352. Said it would need ipad bb. model mc131b/a
I wanted to unlock for my provider (and jailbreak) and after looking at another forum found out i would need 4.2.1 and to install the ipad bb with redsnow on windows.
I next did as follows:
1)Downloaded redsnow and firmware 4.2.1
2) Let redsnow do its thing...... using 4.2.1 firmware and putting on the ipad bb to unlock it
....all went perfect. (or so i had thought)..had to do the tether boot up ...pinapple was showing...5 mins later still showing....then blackness (i may have held start and home to get this...since nothing else was going on) The iphone no longer did anything but was still recognised on redsnow. Fatefully i decided to try entire process again (yes i know its like a car crash..) then kinda thought **** should i have used 4.2.1 in the first place? so anyway..scond time round and im left with an iphone that shows the recorvery itunes cable sign..and the second time round didnt go so well...when the phone was ''doing its thing'' independently it keps sayin ''failed...please wait...please wait.... (all the way down the screen).
Well ive desperately tried to restore the phone. To firmwares i have found online 4.3.5 and 4.2.1 etc. Even just through itunes...which ALWAYS errors. I have tried error 1015 fixer...made no difference in itunes...tried adding a last line in hosts file, alas I have nothing still. I imagine my phone now has ipad bb and on tiny umbrella is still convinced its using 4.3.5 (altho itunes doesnt recognise a firmware). Ive tried using tiny umbrella to fix recovery too. Nothing has worked. Have i just thrown a perfectly good phone and a lot of money down the drain? Please help me so sad about it. Could kick myself.
Oh yeh...i also tried pwnage which didnt recognise what firmware my phone should have...and kept saying the ones i chose were wrong and dont correspond with my phone.

To downgrade you need the blobs for the firmware (from that device specific). You can't just shove any lower firmware onto any device! Restore to 4.3.5 (stock) if that's what it came with. Then follow directions, maybe you need a gevey sim. If something doesn't work, seek help FIRST!!! don't ask for help after you've done 10 wrong things and it's messed up.
Do this : Downgrade to stock 4.1 firmware > Put iphone into dfu mode , run itunes : shift + restore to stock 4.1
Use Exit recovery to kick out error 1015.
If you have the official sim to trigger into homescreen do that.
Once you are at homescreen, jailkbreak it with Limera1n.
Install Ultrasn0w from cydia to unlock ipad baseband. ( if it doesn't unlock, go check your modem firmware under setting > general > about )
i get all the way through the install and like you say it 1015 errors...what do i use to kick it out of this and what point do i do it....i have dfu with ireb then restore to 4.1 it starts....gets to full install and 1015 pops up you press ok and my iphone goes back to recovery mode with the itunes and cable pic.
That looks good but I got myself into this problem in the first place by not having a clue....can that be used for iphone 3gs?
iyeow!! its back to the emergency screen!!! using 4.1 like you said then closing itunes using tiny brolly!! im so happy.....what now in idiot terms - i have the official sim but its been ccut off so at emergency screen but at least it gives the optipon to make some kind of call - back to square one but feel like ive hit jackpot haha thank you so much. do i now use limera1n to jailbreak...can you break this down for dummies so there is no way i can mess this up...cydia i can do ...used to have a jailbroken 3g.
i love you i havea jailbroken iphone - in a min ill love you more because im downloading from cydia - its official. I adore you. my phone is unlocked and jailbroken !!! thank tyou so much. can you please tellme something for future reference...am i to wait until ios 5 for any upgrading/new unlocking/jailbraking on ipad baseband 3gs? and is it normal for signa to be iffy as it keeps going in and out of service but could be due to my location?>/?
For future IOS 5, you must wait for custom firmware tools because of your ipad bb, you can restore to stock firmware up to 4.1, any higher has to be custom firmware.
The in and out service could be due to your area or ipad bb but atleast you can make calls and that is all it matters , right ?
