Welcome to O2. A Guru will be with you soon.
You're through to Guru Danny.

Trever: I would like to unlatch my phone please
Danny: I'll help you with this, please tell me the make and model of your phone?
Danny: Also your O2 mobile number?
Trever: Sure its an iphone 4. My friend had his unlocked earlier from one of you guys i beleve
Trever: Do you need the imei number?
Danny: Yes, also tell your O2 mobile number?
Trever: He did it without providing his info like mobile number, ect
Danny: So you can do this online, I'll give you the link for it.
Trever: Can we just do it on chat please>
Trever: Let me confirm my imei
Danny: I need the O2 mobile number to unlock it.
Trever: It was done earlier with only an Imei
Trever: Can you try to run it through your system?
Trever: are you ready for it?
Danny: I'm sorry but I need to send the mobile number.
Trever: My friend didnt have to?
Danny: You can do this online.
Trever: I dont feel confortable providing that info
Trever: A mobile number was needed on the form
Danny: I'm sorry, but if you want you can visit any O2 shop and they'll help you further.
Trever: hold on
Danny: I haven't heard from you for a while. Are you still there?
Danny: Please tell me the IMEI number?
Trever: how long will it take?
Danny: It will take 3 working days.
Danny: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Trever: okay Thanks alot. So i just connect to itunes?
Danny: You're welcome. Yes.
Trever: Thanks you very much Danny
Danny: You're welcome. It was nice chatting with you. Have a nice day. Take care. Bye.

I doubt this is true unless you personally have it unlock with them.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with O2 but I am gonna call bs on this. The rep may sound naive but more then likely he's either gonna hang up on you for not returning to the conversation to help other people or he is gonna ask you for the imei and mobile number again. From what I have read O2 only unlocks devices if you are a customer of theirs in good standing and are off contract. I believe you have to be on contract for atleast 8 months before they will unlock your device.
Again, this is all speculation as all the material I just said was from different threads and websites I have read. Someone who has had this method done may chime in and explain it more thoroughly.

Well it sounded like he said he put it on the list when he told me how long it would take and told me all I have to do is connect to itunes. Ill just have to wait and see if this works. It would be pretty amazing

Be sure an update if something does or does not happen. In another thread, it didn't even look like people with legit O2 mobile numbers were able to get their phones unlocked.

i did this months ago the week it was first published here on the site. the Guru in fact did unlock my phone and i did not give them my 02 number as i didnt have one. OP, if this does work.. it shouldnt take 3 days. i did mine @ noon lunch time and when i got home by 9pm, itunes unlocked it as synced it.
granted mine was done months ago before the Guru's caught up to our scam. but, yes... its worth a try. else, the guru will say anthing on the chat to make you happy and get you off the chat. previously i was bb 1.59 and now im on 04.10.01 and still unlocked. confirmed with my T-mobile sim

Do I need to restore and activate? or update to the latest firmware? How should the process go?
07-31-2011, 03:03 PM #10
try backing up your phone. one backed up, restore from back up. but dont update your firmware from 1.59, just in case the unlock does not work.
