Iphone 3g jailbreak and unlock

Guyz,

I have a Iphone 3g.
It's running under 4.0.1 and 05.13.04.
I had previously jailbreak ed and unlocked it using jailbreakme.com and ultrasnow.

It's become pretty slow, so i want to update it.
If i connect to itunes it says if i want to update it to 4.2.

So i just wanted to know if I update it would I be able to jailbreak and unlock again.
Any pointers, links would be appreciated.

I am nearly 100% sure that if you update it will be even slower.

iOS 4 wasn't optimized for the iPhone 3G so anything higher than iOS 4.0.1 will make it even more slower.

This is important! Do NOT allow iTunes to automatically update your 3G else you will loose your unlock. A custom firmware built by PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze ... AND ... that custom-built firmware loaded with iTunes is required to retain the unlock/any-SIM capabilities.

I'd personally downgrade to 3.1.3 to get more speed.

You need to make a custom firmware and hold Shift (on windows) or Option (on mac) press restore and find the custom firmware you just made and restore using it.

The custom firmware you made should already be jailbroken, then just go into Cydia and install Ultrasn0w to unlock.

isnt a one that i can download from anywhere and use it

Use PwnageTool (Mac) or Sn0wbreeze (PC) to make a custom firmware.

So I downloaded Snowbreeze.
Opened the exe. It says:

Which IPSW's for my iphone 3g should I download.
Can I download iphone 3g 4.2 , be able to unlock my phone using ultrasnow

I would use this site to download firmware: iClarified - iPhone - Where To Download iPhone Firmware Files From

Note: 4.2.1 is the maximum version for your 3G.
Modem Firmware / Baseband 5.13.x is unlockable with Ultrasn0w if you install a custom firmware. Use Sn0wBreeze to built a custom firmware and select activate if you don't have an authorized SIM. Use shift/click/select custom firmware from iTunes to load it. Then install ultrasn0w from Cydia for the unlock.

One last ques if I download 4.2.1 from the iclarified, built custom firmware using snowbreeze and do shift restore and point to that firmware.
What is the baseband that would I now be in, I currently have 05.13.04.
