Hi all, I have an iphone 3g which was jailbroken and unlocked but it had a few faults with cydia etc etc so I updated it in itunes and as expected it is now locked. But I cant work out which firmware and BB it has to get the correct files to JB/unlock it with. can anyone tell me what firmware/BB it will be? is it 4.2.1? also which prgram should I use? I have used snowbreeze in the past successfully and am happy to use it again if possible.Cheers all.

Oh and it was running 3.1.4, BB 05.12.01 before the update if that helps.

You've updated the baseband along with the firmware upgrade. You've lost the unlock.

Use f0recast and see what bootloader you have. If it is 5.8 it can downgrade the baseband. If it is anything else you can't so you have to upgrade to the iPad baseband 6.15.00 which breaks your GPS.

    So check that out first.

The only way for you to unlock again is to use the iPad baseband. Are you willing to sacrifice your GPS function?

There's no other way to unlock your iPhone 3G. The iPad bb is the only way.

Anything that requires GPS will be affected. I can't really think of anything off the top of my head but of course you won't be able to use apps that want to find your location. Most apps don't *require* it but it is a nice feature for some people who care for it. Your Google maps and any navigation app won't work right.

Hey, that's awesome Sometimes the GPS issue is a hit and miss. I guess you got lucky that it didn't break. I'm glad you got everything up and running now.
