Default Activation with an ATT sim card
    Hi All

I have an unlocked 3g iphone and trying to update it to iOS4.2. However, i dont want to jailbreak it. (I am trying to use it for my work email, the firm specifically said that no jailbroken iphones are allowed on the network) Anyways, I was wondering if i could somehow activate my iphone without jailbreaking it. I have at&t as my provider, if that makes any difference.

thanks in advance for all of your help.

If you have ATT then all you have to do is connect it to itunes.

You could connect it to iTunes and activate it with an iPhone plan, or using one of the jailbreak tools (redsn0w, etc, i cant quite recall) you can chose unlock only instead of jailbreak

What? lol. He just has to put the sim card in and connect the phone to itunes (exactly what the instructions on the phone say).

That only applies to the original iPhone. 3G and up don't need an iPhone plan simply to activate. Original iPhone does require either an active iPhone plan or hacktivation.
