O2 unlock on ATT cutomers
This is just to clarify what some people have been saying regarding using the o2 UK unlock form and the miss-understanding to get their ATT iphone unlocked.
1.Basically it most definitely possible to have a ATT locked Iphone unlocked via o2 unlock form or o2 live chat.
2.NOT all advisor's on live chat are going to be nice to you and play along,BUT you MUST keep trying and it will work eventually i assure you.
3.You can try emailing them with a some kind of fake story to get your ATT iphone unlocked, but this has not been tried by me.
But my knowledge is from trying it myself and getting successful unlock, and also by speaking to the live chat advisor many times and one even admitted that "some times it works" in her own words.
No screen shots am afraid.next time definitely.
Regards.Sam

How long did it take for your unlock to go through? My rep said 72 hours, so I've still got quite a bit of time left. I am a little concerned though, because the 15GBP hasn't been deducted from my account yet

it takes 3 days but maybe more it says on their website up-to 28days,but in reality probably is about 3-4 days.the credit should be taking just before O2 send you the confirmation text message saying it unlocked and connect to itunes.

My credit has been out for 3.5 days. The O2 forums on the topic indicate that 4 days is typical.

I hope that they don't shut this down completely, as I'm going to the UK in October and fully intend to use O2 as my carrier whilst I'm there, and plan to ask the to unlock my iPhone properly at that time. (They will be sending me a "free MicroSIM" to my brother's who will send it on to me.
I might be cheeky enough to ask him to purchase a £20 top up card so that I can try it before I leave.

Although this method has had minimal success, it was deemed dead a couple of weeks ago, I tried about 10 times in 1 day and O2 Reps kept asking me for my o2 number and username

That's why the method detailed in this thread, tells you to purchase a SIM (and top-up) via eBay, and make 2 calls using it, one the the US and one to the UK.
Although if you know someone in the UK, O2 will send them (at your request) a MicroSIM, for them to send to you.
They will also give you the correct APN details for their PAYG service upon request also.

this is completely different then the previous O2 unlock scheme. unlike the previous one, this requires you to
Current scheme: (good chance)
1) purchase an O2 sim
2) top-up your O2 sim
3) make calls in the UK from where ever you are
4) chat with an O2 CSR and request for an unlock
5) since you've made calls from there network, they'll assume your IMEI is from UK and process the unlock
Old scheme: (very difficult)
1) chat with an O2 CSR and request for an unlock

Can you use an o2 sim and make calls in USA, then try for the unlock? I'm a bit confused.

yes.. thats the idea. but you'll need a temp unlock like the Gevey to use the O2 in your locked ip4.
Potential Story for O2 CSR:
basicly were trying to trick the O2 CSR to think that we (the O2 customer) has traveled to the USA with our ip4 and O2 sim card. but since were staying in the USA for a lengthly time (3 mo) it's wiser to just use a local sim. so we ask for an unlock and will use either ATT or T-mobile sim card but require an unlock to use it. top-up's and calls to UK can prove that we've been on the O2 network recently.. thus we must be legit O2 customers and are eligible for an unlock.

so you already have an actived, top-up O2 sim card? have you made couple of UK calls with it too? they still refuse to unlock you?
yeah let's just hope that if it does get BL, that it does not effect you hear in USA. because i thought was your IMEI is black listed its effective world wide

A blacklisted ip4 will still be blacklisted in India. But I doubt the csr would do that
