whited00r is legit, it's basically a 3.1.3 FW modded out to look like 4.x FW (it still is programatically a 3.X firmware though, so don't expect to be able to run apps made for Apple FW 4.x on it =))
it is the closest thing you'll get to having 4.x on a 2g phone.
I tried it out on my 3g, it seemed to work ok... but i ended up going back to Apple 4.2.1 as the speed increase was not astounding enough for me to stay on a 3.x based firmware...Last edited by shminkyboy; 05-19-2011 at 10:19 PM. Reason: details are everything

Time for a new phone
It's that or deal with not being able to use iOS 4 apps. For real though, it's a good investment to upgrade to at least a 3GS
