    Default american iPhone in uk
Ok guys, basically im with a friend of mine and he has an iphone 4 that he wants to sell but it was from when he lived over in america.

I have put my sim in the phone and it dosent recognise the sim. (o2 sim)

The phone seems to be locked to At&t.

Is there anyway that i can unlock it to use it in the uk?

Can i do this myself? or would i have to take it to a shop to get done?

I have had quite a few iphones in the past and can jailbreak it if needed to make the unlock work, but i have never tried this so really dont know what else to do..

    Thanks for looking guys

Try and see if you can do this and let us know
Get a Gevey sim and use it with O2 or Vodafone. Once you have done it and the imei is register with them, summit an unlock request and see if it'll go thru. Let us know the results.

Check the modem firmware in settings>general>about

If it is 1.59.00 you can just jb and unlock. If not then your two option are: a Gevey SIM or contact O2 and ask them to unlock your phone. I helped someone once who actually got it done by his UK carrier.
