You can't unlock at this point. I have the same issue with my 3GS...
Until the next time… And if I help you out, give me a "Thanks!" Thanks!

You can unlock if you update to the ipad baseband. But it is a one-way street and you will lose GPS if you do.

I can't get my 3GS to accept the ipad baseband. Could you detail what you did? On MAC, windows, redsn0w.....
some details please. I have been stopped in my track getting it to accept the ipad baseband.
Thanks

I used redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc16.zip file to unlock my iPhone, during the Cydia installation I also updated my baseband to Ipad baseband. thats it and I installed ultrasn0w later from cydia. and phone started working fine without any issues.
Also the IPSW file was iPhone2,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.ipsw
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info . I had been trying and trying everything without success until now.
It only took me 5 tries.
Strange thing. I was unlocked on Tmobile (US) for the last 2 years till I screwed up the baseband . The phone would only see Tmobile and would not work with 3G switch on. I am in the U.K. today (and France) and the phone doesnt care if the 3G switch is on or not. The phone also stays in the network automatic mode searching networks. Isn't the phone able to lock a network or be capable of manual?
Anyone see the same ? 3GS old boot upgraded from 5.16.02 to 4.3.3 and 6.15.00
Thanks
