If on Windows: Use Sn0wbreeze and create a custom FW - then update via iTunes w/Tinyumbrella (shift-select 4 FW).... that should take care of the problem

If on Mac: read more here Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch Using PwnageTool 4.3.1 [How To Guide] | Redmond Pie

I wish people would specify whether they're using a Mac or PC for these types of procedures.

Anyway, I know from my experience that if I use sn0wbreeze, I need to go through all the sn0wbreeze steps in order to install custom firmware on my phone. That sounds like that's what you're trying to do. In any case, at the end of sn0wbreeze, it runs iReb for you, which is necessary to get rid of that 1600 error.

I have no idea, as there are hundreds of tutorials out there. Then you asked about specifics for sn0wbreeze. Anyway, sn0wbreeze is only for windows. Hopefully some of the mac experts can try to help.
