Gevey Sim Unlock Battery Drain? Counterfeit or Legit?
So I installed my gevey sim with T-mobile on my Iphone 4 4.2.1. It works like it should.
Now Im noticing that the battery life is shortened?
Could I have bought a fake Gevey sim card or is it always like this?
Heres where I bought it from. The seller is from Oakland, 94612 which is the exactly the same area as Applenberry who come out with the gevey sim.

Can't tell if it's real or fake if we can't see the actual Gevey SIM and SIM tray.
I would want to think that a battery drain can be caused by a fake because $16.50 is awfully cheap. I know the prices on them have dropped but can the prices really be that low now?
I could be wrong. But I'd surely like to see a picture of your Gevey SIM and SIM tray. If it's real then it's probably a normal drain problem among turboSIMs.

Not sure if it is a fake that it would unlock ur phone.. Cause if it unlocks ur phone then it must be real . Or else it wouldn't unlock it.. If it continues I would restore as new phone and then rejailbreak just to try everything possible to fix the battery problem.. That's what I would do

It can be a fake and still work. Just means a true gevey was cloned onto a cheap knock off. But it would still work.

i used an gevey sim to unlock my iphone 4 4.3.2 and it works fine.no battery problem but whenever i reboot, the words are in chinese when u have to accept the program.i guess the original gevey sim is in english when u accept the program after reboot.just a guess.

Actually I think the original may be in chinese too. Not 100% on that though.

thats what i have been thinking also if what gevey is the original, its either the chinese character to accept it or the english one because in applenberry site, the videos indicate english accept when u reboot.

i have the same problem too
On the test day, i left my phone at home from 6pm with 100% battery fully charged. its only 60% left when i got home(no body touch or use it).
i think its older version of gevey sim( which can unlock 4.3 or below). btw im on 4.2.1 with 02.10 baseband.
left at 6am(not pm) and got home at 3pm.Last edited by phongfashion2012; 04-30-2011 at 11:50 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hi!
I've received mine, works as expected, no battery drain, networks reconnect when lost... All good so far.
Not sure it's a genuine tho!

If anybody has a drainage problem with gevey sim, it is not gevey sim causing it , its ultrasnow.
these two together cause the battery to drain, if you uninstall utrasn0w the battery will be back to normal.

huh?
gevey is used because the utrasn0w is not updated for the people with BB that can't be unlocked. or not yet released yet for that BB.
if you/anyone have ultrasn0w installed with gevey you/anyone is missing the point of unlocking hardware VS software.
*edit*
after reading some more threads. Gesssss this stuff changes so much and so fast! the ultrasnow helps the gevery if you one bar. that is some weirdness going on.Last edited by chessyang; 05-10-2011 at 12:09 PM.

^ right. Some people use ultrasn0w to fix the 1 bar problem.
However, I don't know if ultrasn0w is causing the battery drain but the combination of using ultrasn0w on a hacktivated device might cause it. So if you didn't hacktivate or you deactivated with SAM that can eliminate the battery drain with hacktivation+ultrasn0w.

I am sure about ultrasnow causing it because i fixed the battery problem on two iphones. Ultrasnow being used for fixing 1 bar on carrier.

Ultrasn0w really is causing the battery drain issue... Im on ios 4.2.1 BB 02.10 using gevey sim for a month now... Battery was lasting hardly 24 hrs.... Removed ultrsn0w yesterday and now am on 98% after 7 hrs and 2-3 phone calls and 20 sms... And updated my inbox twice.... Removing ultrasnw does make a big diff...

I have 4.3.2 with 2.10.04 BB and I have the 1 bar issue. Is their another fix for the 1 bar issue other than ultrasn0w. Someone should make the 1 bar fix without all the ultrasn0w stuff in with it.

well you could always update your baseband to what it should be. That is a fix for it. Obviously no one who has 1.59 baseband (or any other baseband that can be unlocked) should do this.
