Default please help with iphone unlocking
    hello there
a friend of mine just gave me a 3gs iphone. he claimed that he updated it by mistake and an activation screen appears now on the iphone. he has no idea of the iphone is officially unlocked or not. so i used tiny umbrella to check with baseband and firmware the iphone is on.

its 4.1 with a 06.15.00-6.4_M3S2 baseband. now i have no idea how he updated it and still on 4.1 firmware.

can anyone tell me how to unlock or jailbreak or atleast activate the phone .. shall i go for a custom firmware ??

    thanks alot

You need to insert the phone carrier's sim card to activate the phone. Otherwise, use pwngetools or sn0wbreeze custom FW will hacktivate and JB it. I believe redsn0w can also do the same without reinstalling firmware. All of these programs will JB your phone. Once JB, install the latest ultrasn0w from Cydia.

With the iPad baseband 6.15.00 it must always use custom firmware that doesn't have the ipad baseband packaged within it. Sn0wbreeze created custom firmware would work as well.

SHSHs are necessary to do a restore to anything below 4.3.2.
