iPhone 3G 4.2.1 - 5.15.04 - Installing ipad baseband exits redsn0w

I have read the stickied unlock thread, but I'm having a problem with redsn0w - it looks like it is crashing but it just exits quietly during baseband install.

I have jailbroken without using ipad baseband without a problem.

I'm now trying to unlock with 'Install ipad baseband'

I'm using redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc14 on Windows 7 x64. I also tried running it in WinXP compat mode and still same problem.

iPhone 3G, 5.15.04, 4.2.1, 5.9

is this a lost cause on 5.15.04? the other threads say you can use ipad 6.15 but its not working.

Are you selecting to install cydia at the same time?

Yes, I am selecting the following in redsn0w:

Install Cydia
Install iPad baseband
Enable multitasking
Enable homescreen wallpaper
Enable battery percentage

Just select install ipad baseband by itself and try that. Once that does its thing you can run redsnow again to install cydia. I would suggest activating multitasking and homescreen wallpaper though, they will make you phone run REALLY slow.

iPhone 3G can go to 4.2.1. I assume he is already on 4.2.1 since he has the 5.15.04 baseband already.

since you're in brooklyn come meet me downtown on wall st. and i'll show you my 3g on 4.2.1 w/5.15.04 - and maybe you can help me unlock it!

Thanks, after reading about the hazards of 6.15 (loss of GPS and potential call/msg problems) I'm going to wait. Any idea how long it has been since 5.15.04 came out and the last unlock worked?

I do have the original SIM that the 3G came with (I bought this used the other day). Is it possible for me to just walk into AT&T and get it activated, then i only need to JB right?

You should be able to get it activated with ATT no problem.
