Need to unlock and jailbreak iphone 4.2.1

I have a iphone 3g 4.2.1 what should i use to jailbreak then unlock it so i can use it on the tmobil network.

Jailbreak you would use redsnow 0.9.6rc12. To unlock you have 2 options. Use redsnow to update to the iPad baseband and then you can unlock with ultrasnow from cydia for free. Downside to this is that you will lose GPS.

Or you can use one of those new IMEI unlock sites that have been popping up. They can give you an "official" unlock but they are expensive (around $170).

yeah thats what ive been trying to use but the ipsw file wont show up on it or any others ive tried. Ive unlocked 2 iphones before but this one i dont know why its not working

Are you sure the file extension is .ipsw?

ummm accually no im not to sure been busy so i didnt even think about checking that. I got it from apple so i just assumed it was the right extension. Now i guess i gotta find the right one..

Change your views in windows to show you file extensions. Maybe it is a zip file, in which case you need to change the extension from zip to ipsw.
