Default [IDEA] Possibly FREE IMEI unlocks for all iPhones?

I don't know whether or not this is legal in the U.S (it's allowed in my country), or if I'm allowed to post about it. I don't want to endorse anything illegal/against the sites rules.

So I had this thought. What if we could change our IMEI's to the ones that are unlocked. Would our phones be unlocked? I mean, this would be way better than shelling out $175.

I just did some googling and it's said to be illegal for lost/stolen phones. Could be wrong though.

It is illegal to change IMEI numbers on a phone in many countries around the world.

Ah. Well thanks for clarifying. Would be neat if it was possible though.
