My son gave me an iphone 3gs on baseband 05.16.02. running on 4.3.1. Unfortunately it is locked. I have jailbroken it using snOwbreeze 2.5 but it will not unlock. I keep getting the emergency screen. Anyone know of a solution?

You need to "hacktivate" it, or have the official sim from the carrier the phone is locked to. That is also not an unlockable baseband with ultrasnow. You can either
1. Invest in the Gevey sim (read about it first!)
2. upgrade the baseband to 06.15.00 using redsn0w (read about it first!!!) and then use ultrasn0w to unlock and then ultrasn0w fixer.
3. Sell and buy an iphone either unlocked or locked to your carrier.
