jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1 iphone 3gs with bb 5.16.02 help needed

I recently jailbroke my 3GS (iOS 4.3.1) with the intention of unlocking it. I got it from a friend and it had never been jailbroken before and was full upgraded.

Is there anyway I could unlock the phone right now? Ive heard about people switching it to the iPads bb which i know you can do with redsnow, how does that work?

I know there is no unlock for bb 5.16.02 but is there any estimate on how long it will take for that to come out?
