Default iphone bricked -- tried everything..

    Hi there,

I have an OTB 1.0.2 which I had activated/jailbroken/unlocked on various firmware version. Recently I went up to 1.1.4 using ZiPhone. After screwing with some things (with passwd and others) and various restores, I think I might have f** up my iphone.

When I now do the following:

1.) Put phone into DFU mode, and reinstall 1.1.4 firmware using SHIFT+Restore (also tried this twice in a row). This always ends with an error 1011 from ITunes.

2.) When I then try either "Refurbish" or "Do it all!" in Ziphone, Ziphone hangs and the last line in on the iPhone screen is

"Spamming AT, waiting for a response"

    Any suggestions? TIA

Don't do a "shift + restore"... just put the phone in DFU or normal restore mode and hit the restore button. If this doesn't work there have been suggestions to uninstall and reinstall itunes (assuming you are at the latest version.. if not then update). Then restart your computer and restore again.

    Default no luck yet

Thanks. Tried what you suggested, Poseidon. Unfortunately, I still get an 1011 error from iTunes and the same hang-up of Ziphone. I start to get tired of googleing for solutions...

Is there anything else worth trying such as downgrading or iPlus??

try putting your iphone in dfu mode and then restore to 1.1.1, it would give u an error at the end and then try to kick it out of dfu mode with the help of iBrickr, if it doesnt work the first time, try again. Once you are on 1.1.1 then try upgrading to 1.1.4.

I dont know if it will work for you or not. Let me know.

Thanks so much guys for the suggestions. I did downgrade to 1.1.1, got an error, tried to put it out of dfu mode using iBrickr, restored to 1.1.1 again.

That put the phone out of dfu mode and now I get the activate iPhone screen.

However, when connecting to iTunes, there is a message on the iPhone "Repair needed. iPhone cannot make or receive calls. www.apple.com/support"

Also, iTunes gives an error message "The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be used with iTunes because the SIM card is pin-locked or not installed. You must enter your SIM Pin or insert your SIM card into the iPhone in order to activate it."

This is with the original AT&T SIM. I didn't disclose one thing thus far :P The iPhone recently fell of a table. Is this possibly a hardware defect? What do I need to do with the phone before I can take it to an Apple store?

Again, thanks dhawalsinha and slither for your help. I think there is some progress...

because u downgraded, the baseband is too recent for the iphone. to fix this, add the iclarified source to downgrade your baseband to 1.1.1 baseband.
hit thanks if thanks are due.

Just let me make sure I understand correctly. Right now the phone is not activated and on 1.1.1. Also, there are these error messages. What would be the next step? Should I use some program to jailbreak and activate, etc.?

use jailbreakme.com to jailbreak the iphone (go to jailbreakme.com on ur computer to learn how to get to safari on an unactivate fone). then in installer, there will be a package that lets you downgrade the baseband to the 1.1.1 version.

BUT, if i were you, i would just DFU restore to 1.1.4. use ZiPhone to get the iphone into dfu mode. then restore to 1.1.4. if you have a legit AT&T SIM card, everything should go fine.
hit thanks if thanks are due.

Thanks, mbrooksr! So DFU restoring to 1.1.4 worked, but "do it all" did not (the iPhone just doesn't respond). So I went back to 1.1.1 (twice, using iBrickr) and, again, the iPhone boots to the activation screen.

Now here things are getting *pretty* tricky. I cannot do jailbreakme.com because I fail even at the first step (I enter *#307#, press call and the call button doesn't work.) The phone just again gives the error message "Repair needed. blablabla" With the original AT&T SIM...

I'm really desperate at this point. Maybe I should just bring it to the Apple store the way it is as I don't see any way to undo the tinkering to baseband etc.

If any of the experts here knows better things to try first, *please* post a reply.

    Thanks!!!

just DFU restore to 1.1.4. then if u r legit AT&T, then dont click "do it all", just jailbreak. but if you need to unlock, and the iphone isnt responding, put it into recovery mode then use ziphone. (MAKE SURE that you download the newest version of ZiPhone)
hit thanks if thanks are due.

Dude at this state i suggest you should have just restored again to 1.1.4 and then run Ziphone 2.5c, it worked for me the last time i had the same problem. dnt worry you'll get it soon enough just be patient.

you have the 1.1.4 baseband so just stay at 1.1.4 and keep doing a few DFU restores and then kick them out of the error message if u get it with ibrickr then set up as new phone and use ziphone to do it all

    Hi 95012613,

I think all this info is not helpful for us. ZiPhone 3.0 (or ZiPhone 2.5c) just doesn't cut it. I did all the suggestions in this thread like 10 times.

Last attempt: I DFU-restored to 1.1.4 like 3 times in a row (each time using ZiPhone to put the phone in DFU mode.) After the third restore, I did use iBrickr 0.91 to kick the phone out of DFU mode (background of phone turns red and it reboots). The I use ZiPhone "Do it all" and it just freezes with the big "Z" logo and the message "Flashing bootloader... (1'55").

Let me know if you come up with something better...

Needless to say, the phone has IMEI and ICCID unknown. The guide for 1.0.2 OTB (which I have) on hackintosh for phones without IMEI and ICCID didn't help, either.

Red background means that there was an error when it kicked the phone out. It should be a green background.
