iPhone 3GS unlocked w/ ipad baseband

so since the new jailbreak is out for 4.3.1, can i update my firmware to 4.3.1 jailbreak and the update the baseband to the ipad baseband and then unlock still? i figured you could but wanna make sure 100%

You should be able to. But dont update to the iPad baseband if you already have a unlockable baseband.

I've updated to 4.3.1 on my 3GS and to baseband 06.15.00 but I can't unlock. Ultrasnow or ultrasnow fixer don't seem to be getting me there?

You may want to wait for the official ultrasnow fix from the dev team then for 4.3.1.

Keep in mind if you are on the stock apple 4.3.1 FW it won't unlock, I made that mistake yesterday.

Make sure the FW is custom, if you are on 6.15.00 it should be anyway.

Ultra's fix worked after I switched FW's.

As far as I'm aware my FW is custom as I used snowbreeze and as you say I have BB 06.15.00.

Just a thought (and probably a really stupid idea) but, my other half has a 3GS which is on FW 4.2.1. With my 3GS I hadn't used tiny umbrella so don't have any shsh files to downgrade with, if I create them using her phone can I then use that to downgrade mine with?

No, it is per specific phone, not per phone model, as I'm sure sauriks' servers have plenty of 4.2.1 SHSH's for 3GS phones already. You'll see when you run TU, that it is per specific phone only.
