iOS 4.3/4.3.1 Unlock?
I was reading earlier on Redmond Pie that you can unlock an iPhone 3GS or a GSM iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3 or 4.3.1 if you jailbreak with Sn0wbreeze 2.4 and then unlock it with Ultrasn0w. Is this true?

Yes, but there are conditions. If you updated to any baseband beyond 05.11.07 for 3G/3GS, then you can't unlock. If you updated to any baseband beyond 01.59.00 for iPhone 4, then you can't unlock. Basically, sn0wbreeze will preserve the current baseband on your phone.

Just be sure to only restore to a custom firmware made with pwnage tool or snowbreeze. That way you can preserve that baseband.

No, SHSH have to do what firmware you can restore to. They dont affect the baseband. Making custom firmware with pwnage tool or snowbreeze preserves your baseband.

Try using redsnow to enter pwned DFU first. Then try restoring to the custom firmware again.

Ok so I almost got it. Restore was going great, then at the very end of the entire process i get an error "37".
Any idea what that is all about? I'll give redsnow a shot and see if that makes a difference i guess

What version of snowbreeze did you use to make the custom firmware?

the one in the tutorial under your sig(2.5 i think it was).
I went into redsnow and then dfu mode there like you said but the same thing, the progress bar on the phone literally gets to ---> <--- that much space left while its verifying and then error 37 pops up.
Now while in redsnow, it wouldnt let me get to the dfu option unless i selected the Apple 4.3.1 as my "Current" firmware, does that mean that 4.3.1 is now installed?

No, redsnow does not update firmware, it just needs to be pointed to a regular copy of the firmware to work.
Try making another custom firmware and restoring to that. The first one may have a problem with it.

i tried that already too, lol. the second version is the one that is giving me the error 37. is it possible to do this with redsnow without losing the baseband?
I have the old boot too if that makes a difference
