    Default push notifications?

i keep getting a message that says i need to connect to itunes for push notifications. i have searched for an answer, and i see conflicting things. can someone please tell me how to fix it? some say push doctor, some say pushfix, but i think that is the one i saw that gives you other ppls push notifications?

i do have an at&t sim card, but i never got the "waiting for activation" message after jailbreak.

i'm not opposed to rejailbreaking or anything, so please let me know the best solution. no push notifications really sucks!

Did you activate it (get past the emergency call screen) with the ATT sim last time you restored?

to be perfectly honest, i don't remember seeing an emergency call screen. i put the phone in DFU and restored to custom firmware in itunes.

the very first time i restored to official firmware in itunes (when i updated to 4.2.1) i didn't get the waiting for activation message either. but i can't remember if i had the at&t sim card in there at the time or not.

is there a way around it at this point?

You can use SAM to fix push notifications or restore to regular firmware making sure the ATT sim is in there.

In that case, your best option would be to make a custom 4.2.1 firmware with pwnage tool 4.2 or snowbreeze and restore to that. When making it be sure to uncheck the box that says activate. You will use your ATT sim for that so that your push notifications will work.

i will give that a try. sn0wbreeze gave me three options when i created firmware the first time. there was baseband preservation, simple and expert. baseband preservation and expert errored out in itunes. simple was the only on that worked, but i do remember clicking activate.

in the mean time, i have switched back to my blackberry. no push notifications were getting to me, but it was also the speed of the phone. i NEED apps to be able to run in the background and when i installed backgrounder, the phone slowed to a crawl.

    thanks for your help!

iPhone 3G is going to be slow on 4.2.1 even before adding something like backgrounder. You may want to think about going back to 3.1.3 and trying it out there, should run a bit smoother on that firmware.

yeah, i heard that in a few different places. i did actually downgrade to 3.1.3 and did notice that it was a bit faster. but there are so many apps that i couldn't install because of the software version, that the tiny bit of speed i gained didn't feel worth it to me.
