New and help needed!

I probably should have done more research before I actually bought the thing but here's my dilemma.

I bought a 32GB iPhone 3GS off of ebay for my girlfriend. My girlfriend is on T-Mobile so I was going to unlock it.

I can't get it to work and I don't know if maybe I can't do it with the current iPhone's settings and firmware, so I'm going to post below everything and if someone could tell me the easiest way to get this set up for my girlfriend for a newb (I'm computer savy...just an iphone newb.)

iPhone 3GS
4.1 Firmware
Modem Firmware: 05.14.02
(If you need any other information, tell me what and HOW to get it.)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I've been working on this for 6+ hours with no luck!

The closest I've come is where you hold the sleep and home button at the same time and then restore a previous firmware by holding shift and hitting restore...but whenever I do that, after a few minutes I get a 3194 error and it can't restore the old firmware.

You can't unlock that baseband 5.14
Google iPad baseband 6.15 to unlock. But using 6.15 crashes the gps.

You'd have to be on 4.2.1 and use redsn0w to update the baseband to 6.15.00 to unlock.

Though, the GPS will break if you do the bb upgrade.

Google Maps and Garmin will still work, if that isnt a big deal.

You're getting error 3194 because either 1) you're not running the TSS Server in TinyUmbrella or 2) you dont have SHSHs saved for any firmwares below 4.2.1.

You can be on version 4.1 too.

Which would need SHSHs. 4.2.1 does not need SHSHs at this time.
