how to activate iPhone 4 with 4.2.1

Got a 1 month old iPhone-4, not sure about the firmware version becoz it is not activated (stuck up in Emergency call). If I connected to iTune it is saying to put the SIM to activate.

I don't have AT&T SIM so how can I do this ? Phonebook method still work ? or anyother better idea ... please let me know

You would need the SIM to activate.

Consider using redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 to bypass activation, then run greenpois0n on it after to untether the jailbreak.

Just use Sn0wBreeze 2.2.1 to cook a custom firmware..it preserves the current baseband, untethered jailbreak, and hacktivate (activate) it aswell.

but i don't think there is an unlock for your baseband if you are using some other sim. Unlock will be released after 11th of March 2011.

You need shsh saved to update to custom firmwares. You can download tiny umbrella and use it to save shsh.

I've got same problem, I used redsnOw as Anni suggested, now my iPhone is stock with Apple logo in the middle, how long should I wait for this one to disappear?

my problem is the same, I started downloading 4.2.1 ipsw from Download section.

But the problem is I dont know what is my firmware because it stuck at emergency call so I cannot know the firmware.

I am very new to these things, if my iphone is not 4.2, I got a problem with using sn0wbreeze and 4.2.1 ipsw?

P.S: I already downloaded sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 and waiting to finish ipsw.

Download "Tiny Umbrella" it'll show you, your ipsw as well baseband.

BTW: Mine is still stuck on the Apple Logo, it's rebooting and coming back to the same. iTunes won't restore it either.

I brought this one with package and everything, however, used. I can't get my money back as the salers number is down,and I'm afraid this one has been IMEI blocked.

So please someone help me, if you can!

Open Task Manager, search for that PID and kill task, then try again. Keep killing tasks with the PID shown if you keep getting popup messages. You may have to go to View -> Select Columns to get the PID column to show.

How can I do that, when I can't enter my iPhone, or should I do that on my pc Task Manager? I hope it won't effect my pc

@cpsany could you please explain what did you do to pass emergency step, how did you use sn0wbreeze and did you use redsn0w 0.9.6rc8, or just sn0wbreeze and 4.2.1 ipsw ?

After creating new ipsw with sn0wbreeze, I managed to restore it via itunes, but after restoring itunes shows an alert, "after 15 seconds iphone wil be restarted", but after that alert disappers, itunes alerts again, the phone is in recovery mode, so recover.

I think it is a recover loop problem, any suggestions? I tried fix recovery in tinyumbrella and used RecBoot, but no luck
