    Default blackrain doesn't hacktivate 3.1.2

After using blackrain i get the message your jailbreak is done once the device reboots........ But when i reboot, it then comes back to the emergency calls only cant get into the phone itself. I tried redsnow 9.4 but it didnt work either. All happend because, i made the big mistake of upgrading the firmware on the previously unlocked iphone3g iOS 3.1.2 to 4.2.1 with iTunes. So now it re-locked.

    redsn0w 0.9.4 doesn't work because you're on 4.2.1

I would shift+restore to 3.1.3(runs fastest on iPhone 3G) ,use tiny umbrella to exit recovery and then use redsn0w 0.9.4 to hacktivate and jb.

Depending on your bootloader, you might be able to use fuzzyband to downgrade your baseband. If you're bootloader is not supported by fuzzyband (currently supports 5.08 bootloader) you would need to install ipad baseband to unlock.

In iTunes while your iphone is connected, hold shift key and press restore you can now browse to different firmwares. You would want to download 3.1.3 for iphone 3G from here: iPod, iPhone and iPad Firmware Download

Download tiny umbrella from The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella tiny umbrella will help you exit recovery mode if youre iphone gets stuck at the connect to itunes screen. Open tiny umbrella and connect your iphone, tiny umbrella will tell you your phones information.

Once you've restored, then open tiny umbrella and use exit recovery option.

TU won't support exiting recovery on 4.2.1. You would want to just run redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 on it after restoring and getting stuck in recovery mode.

You're on iPhone 3G, do you prefer to be on 4.2.1? Because 3.1.3 is best for that device. You can take it back down to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 without SHSHs if youd like.

Restore to 3.1.3 getting error 1015 is normal. Once you restore and get error 1015, then open tiny umbrella to exit recovery.
