How to Unlock iPhone 3GS on 4.2.1 Firmware

Hey guys!

I just update an iphone 3gs to 4.2.1 but after jailbreak i can't use it. It says that " the Sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported "

Not in 4.2.1.

You Will have to wait till 4.3 if 3GS Will be supported. Or maybe you Will have to hacktivated your iPhone. First run redsn0w And after do greenpois0n jailbreak to become unthetered.

True what baseband are you using should have asked that first,if it's stock then very true!

You would have to update the bb to 6.15.00 which is the iPad baseband which will break your GPS. google maps will still work but gps apps don't.

You can see if theyll release a new unlock when 4.3 releases but I heard that the unlock is only for iPhone 4. It could take a couple weeks or more as well.

Lemme just say my GPS works just fine. I used pwnage tool 4.2 and it activated just fine and my battery doesn't drain fast either. I have the old boot record instead of the new one..for what its worth. I am using the iPad baseband. That begin said so close to 4.3 I'd wait and see what 4.3 holds and see if the unlock happens pretty quick and see what problems may or may not come up,and then make an informed decision. Everything you need can be found in these forums though for sure.

Did you actually check with a GPS app like tomtom or navigon, or are you basing it out on Google Maps? Because Google Maps can run fine without GPS.

Ok you win. I hope you haven't been looking this whole time for that. Everything I have read definatley states that you may or may not have issues with gps. But if you say it will definitely not work,then it's cool it won't work and I'm good with that.

It's been determined on modmyi that it breaks GPS for sure. People who report it hasn't uses Google Maps to report whether GPS works or not. It's not the right way to determine. Apparently Garmin isn't either.

It doesn't take long for me to go to the app store and read the description. It took me long to respond because I had class. So no, it didnt take me long.

And it's not about winning, I just wanted to make sure the original poster sees that it most certainly breaks GPS and doesn't trust your mis-determined justification that your GPS works; which it doesn't.

Yes that's doable. Just breaks GPS, as mentioned prior. Otherwise, this is the method to go.

hey guys,thanks for the help. Finally i unlocked it with ultrasnow . But unfortunately it can't recognize my sim card. When i enter the sim card its says " SEARCHING " and then says " NO SIM "

Any solutions?

ultrasnow wont unlock that baseband. You would need to update to the ipad baseband for it to work. Read the rest of your thread for info on that.

DO NOT update to 6.15 baseband,be patient a little bit! The UNLOCK will come in near future! Baseband 6.15 brings only problems!
