Will a phone reset remove activation?

I have a 3G that I want to jailbreak and unlock. I bought it off eBay and it has a lot of music and apps I want to get rid of. If I do the "erase all content and settings" option, will this deactivate the phone? I need the phone activated for the jailbreak and unlock so I don't have to use SAM or hacktivate.

Ya, that will either leave you needing to activate or worse leave you in boot loop. You can just synce it to your itunes account to erase most of the stuff on it.
