Out of the loop
As the title says, I am out of the loop when it comes to unlocking. I jailbroke my new iPhone 4 using jailbreakme.com when I first got it, and it's still on 4.0.1
Now that jailbreak software for more up to date firmware is coming out again, I want to upgrade, but I also need to unlock my phone as well, as I am going to America in August for about 9 months. I presume an unlocked UK phone will work on standard US networks like AT&T?
I've seen about new unlocks in the news section, but it seems there are baseband unlock preservers like Pwnage Tool, but also that there will be an unlock coming out for new basebands soon. Is this true? I need advice on which route to take (ie wait for latest baseband unlock, then upgrade vs unlock now then Pwnage tool).
Thanks

Pwnage tool is the safest way for you to go to 4.2.1 and preserve your baseband so that you can still unlock with ultrasnow. If you have a factory unlocked UK iPhone then you dont need to worry with any of that, they will always be unlocked.

If it is unlocked it will. You can get O2 to officially unlock it for you. That's the best way to do it.

I think it's 15 or 20 pounds. Not too sure. Just give em a call to see.

Apparently it's free if you're on contract. Can anyone confirm this?

That does sound right. It is not free for the pay as you go people. I guess they dont mind unlocking it for you since you are under contract anyway.
