so i have a i4 4.1 IOS with a 02.10.04 firmware. when the 4.3 comes out, i can upgrade it and unlock it with a 4.3 baseband.im just asking if i should upgrade it to 4.3 when it comes out if i want to unlock my phone.
The unlock is coming out for basebands 02.10.01 and 3.10.01 for sure and perhaps 4.10.01 (fw 4.3) soon (i think it is currently being worked on).
Though i would recommend just staying with what you got unless 4.10.01 unlock has actually been announced and released. I'm sure you don't want to jump to 4.3 to find out that the 4.10.01 unlock isn't working.
The guy who find the exploits in the basebands has said that the unlock exploit he has works for both 02.10.01 and 03.10.01 (fw 4.2.1) so I don't see the harm in going from 02.10.01 to 03.10.01 if you want to upgrade to 4.2.1 without using a custom firmware that preserves your old baseband.
With the announcement of the iPad 2 comes iTunes 10.2. The update brings forth compatibility with the new iOS4.3 firmware, which will be available March 11th.
iTunes 10.2 is safe for anyone concerned about jailbreaking, but if you need even more confirmation, @Musclenerd has put his faith in it as well.
