Update iPhone 3g 3.1.2 (05.11.07) to ios 4.2.1?

Hello ppl, i want to know if i can update my jailbroken iPhone 3g 3.1.2 with baseband 05.11.07 working perfectly right now. to ios 4.2.1 and also unlock it. I also have official AT&T SIM. i have system running widows 7 ultimate 64bit system and my iPhone has following configuration

Version: 3.1.2 (7D11)
Model: MB046LL
Modem Firmware: 05.11.07

Plz help me to decide if can update my iPhone to ios 4.2.1 without any issues like battery drain problem, unlocking problem or gps problem?

Yes you can do this, but I don't think you should. Any firmware 3.1.3+ runs really bad on the iPhone 3G. If you still want to then follow the steps.

1) Download sn0wbreeze from iH8sn0w.com | Jailbreak your iPod touches and iPhones

2) Download a iOS 4.2.1 firmware for iPhone 3G: HERE

3) Open sn0wbreeze and select the 4.2.1 firmware you downloaded

4) Made sure you go on "Baseband Preservation Mode"

5) Once you did that and it makes the firmware put your iPhone into DFU mode and restore it in iTunes with the custom 4.2.1 firmware you just made.

^ yep. I wouldn't go past 3.1.3 on an iPhone 3G. It is regarded by most as the best firmware for the iPhone 3G. You can shift+restore directly to 3.1.3 and still be unlockable. Although if you are on AT&T you have no need to install ultrasn0w, until you sell it and want to market it as unlocked.

Thnx guyz for the usefull feedback, so now I'm not updating to ios 4.2.1 But shud I update my iPhone from 3.1.2 to 3.2 coz many apps require 3.2 update?

No you are going to shift + restore to 3.1.3. When in iTunes hold down the shift key and select restore. iTunes will let you browse to 3.1.3 firmware. Download 3.1.3 firmware from iPhone Download Blog

So, is there any problem that I am j/b and unlocked with Blackra1n and have Cydia & ********** on my iPhone?

Can I do Backup on iTunes having those apps installed or I have to uninstall them before the Backup?

The guy in the video says "you can restore from your backup on iTunes or unlock", so if I restore from iTunes am I going to get a unlock then ? If yes, any guide for that?
