iPhone 3G unlocked with iPad baseband "searches" for sim after every call
Hello I have and iPhone 3g on 4.2.1 unlocked with ultrsn0w on the iPad baseband and jailbroken with resn0w 0.9.6 b4.
Originally the phone worked fine as far as calling and what not. .. Anyhow I had to eventually restore the phone.. And as we all know it cannot be restored to stock 4.2.1 with the modified baseband.
So I chose to restore with a custom 4.2.1 firmware with the modified babseband through itunes running tinyumbrella to kick it outta restore mode since im on vista. Which worked fine however now the only thing now is that after every call (I'm on tmobile) meaning when I hit the "end call" button the phone it searches for my sim for a painful minute or two everytime before I can make another call.
I doubt it's the sim cause it's only two months old and worked fine prior to restoring and rejailbreaking.
When I was reactivating it through I tunes I don't believe the official AT&T sim was in it, and in resn0w I did not check "install packages" if that might have something to do with it..
Help please!

I think you should restore it, make yourself a custom IPSW with Sn0wbreeze and restore the phone with iTunes.

Update: I reset network settings and did a hard reset. The tmobile card is still being searched for after every call.
So I tried my girlfriends and my roommates AT&T sim cards. The phone found them both quickly and did not have to search for either after a phone call... So now I'm thinking it may be the sim? I have downloaded a couple gigs worth of data on the tmobile one... Maybe it's just had it's day.
I'm going to buy an O2 sim to day and see what happens with a new unofficial sim.
Could excessive downloading make a sim card do this???
Update: the 02 sim works perfectly fine after placing a call. No searching at all like the AT&T cards. No now it's rather obvious it's something with the tmobile sim.
The tm sim was is the only one with an attached data plan unlike the 02 & AT&T cards.
So either the tmobile card is about fried or it's maybe something to do with the data address or something..
Input please...Last edited by Ian3head; 02-25-2011 at 02:02 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

This is a very simple fix. All you have to do is disable the 3G on the iPhone. All you do is:
Settings---> General---> Network---> Switch 3G to off.
Restart phone. Enjoy

3G was already off since I can only use edge. Reset networks. Reset vpns. Hard reset. Soft reset. Still same problem. I'm afraid if I restore with the custom firmware... The only option for me hence the iPad basband... Its just going to do the same.. After I take all the time to reinstall everything.
Apple...I love you because your still slightly ahead but Don't make me switch to htc droid. I'll drop your *** faster than AT&T
and they're ******** service!
