Default Baseband: When is it time to move on ?

I could use some clarification from those more technically familiar with iPhone basebands. I have an old bootrom 3GS which I have jailbroken with successive versions of custom firmware created by with pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze, always preserving my original baseband. I am currently jailbroken on iOS 4.21 and have my good old 04.26.08 baseband. I am on a legit carrier but am still unlocked with ultrasn0w.

My question, is there any good reason to update my baseband to a newer version which is still unlockable with ultrasn0w ? I would assume there are some improvements with newer versions (battery life ?), but are they worthwhile ? Do I loose anything by upgrading the baseband e.g. the ability to downgrade to earlier iOS.

At this point, everthing works like a charm and I believe that with 04.26.08 I can go back to 3.0 if I so choose. So, is there a time to let an old baseband go & move on, or is a preserved original baseband golden ?

I would stay on the same the baseband wont do anything for you in my opinion although some may disagree and shed more light on it. If it aint broke dont try to fix it is the old saying

Apple want to thrown hacker team and iphone user off track by change the baseband that way iphone user lock to certain carrier, other than that make no diffirent.
