Cannot unlock 3G 4.1 on 5.14 baseband?

Looking to buy a 3G and the "guy" says he can unlock it without upgrading the baseband to the ipad 6.15. It's currently on 4.1 and 5.14 baseband....is he blowing smoke or can it be done without using the 6.15 baseband?

Well the seller has a iphone 3G (not 3GS) on 4.1 with 5.14 baseband. He is telling me he can unlock it. According to iGoof above, it CANNOT be unlocked, so he is mistaken/lying and cannot unlock it.

iGoof messed up. The guy has a 3G on 05.14 and is saying he can unlock it without going to 06.15. That is a lie - at least as of today. Sure, no problem to jb, but no direct unlock for 05.14.

Cant Fuzzyband downgrade the baseband if bootloader is 5.8?

Yes if the bootloader is 5.8 it can be downgraded so long as you don't upgrade to 4.2.1. The support for fuzzyband is only reporting up to the bb that comes on 4.1.
