Default Is there EVER going to be an unlock for the iPhone 4?

I'm getting a new iPhone 4 next week (so it will be a recent build) and was wondering what is going on with the unlocks for this phone? To my knowledge there was only ever 1 out and that was what 4.1 or something like that?

Anyways I was just curious to know if it would be worth waiting for an unlock (if so can I get a time frame?) so I can use my phone on T-Mobile or should I just switch over to AT&T and give up the dream?

Rumors about unlock makers giving up until the iPhone 5 come out are just not worth it for me, I'm not waiting that long which will probably require more waiting after that wait...this is getting to be ridiculous now. With previous versions of the phone waits for unlocks were never this long. Heck I'm willing to pay for the unlock, just bring it already!

It was 4.0.2 and below that was unlockable.

Its likely to be released when 4.3 drops. But that's not confirmed. I doubt the devs would wait until an entire new phone comes out though, I'd be surprised if they did.

I put it like this, most likely they will be a unlock for the iphone 4.. yea I heard after 4.3.. The Devs been coming thru for yrs and I appreciate it.. No matter the time frame.. But hey I just made the switch I been with tmobile for like 4yrs.. But now Im with ATT, no more waiting on unlocks dats a plus.. Plus where Im at Tmobile kinda sucks, Att I always have a signal..

So if u gonna spend the money on a iphone in the first place, hell y not just get with Att..

Its rather dependent on the area. AT&T and T-Mobile have equally poor reception for me at work. At home I have great reception with both carriers. If I had a choice I'd go to Verizon, too bad I'm locked into a contract, but going to Verizon would be most beneficial unless your area really does support AT&T/T-Mobile signal well.

Yeah I've tried that but I just can't seem to accept paying a higher price to go with AT&T. With T-Mobile I'm not on a contract (it already expired) so I'm not required to have a data plan...I really don't need data plans as I'm always on Wi-Fi unless I'm driving and I'm tired of paying for internet for both home and for a damn cell phone...it's ridiculous!

Correct me if I'm wrong but even if you pay full price for the phone with AT*T, they will still require a data plan on the phone, is this correct? If not then maybe I'd consider it, although I don't feel like paying 700 bucks for a phone either. I still have my iPhone 4 from last year but of course it's not unlocked as there is no unlock available currently. I've just been using it as a iPod and updating the iOS as they have been coming available.

I have AT&T, but I'm also waiting on an unlock, as I always give my old iPhones to family members who use T-Mobile.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 3G and up don't support T-Mobile's 3G network, so we are stuck on Edge away from a wifi network.
