3GS jailbreaking & unlocking problem! help!

Hey guys,

I'm running a 3GS:
- 4.2.1
- 5.15.04
- new bootrom

I am stuck in the "emergency calls only" screen after redsn0w. I am unable to use redsn0w to re-jailbreak or boot tethered because it keeps saying that it unexpectedly failed. I need to be able to jb and unlock this phone.

Any ideas?

edit: Now my iphone ends in with a white screen after attempts to redsn0w.

The emergency call screen means you have not activated the phone. You need eiher an original carrier SIM card or to hactivate the phone. The second problem you have is even after activating the phone you have an unlockable baseband. The only option to unlock is to upgrade to the ipad baseband with its associated problems which you should research.

If you want to go to the ipad baseband your best option might be to do a full restore from apple and then rejailbreak with redsnow selecting the ipad baseband and hactivation.

After the redsnow process you should then run the latest greenpo1son which will make the jb untether.

Thanks nebo1ss. I was just about to do another full restore. I will see what happens after.

The thing is that the previous restore & redsn0w led to the restore mode screen.

Still doesn't work! And when I try to restore with iTunes, i get error 1015! Any thoughts?

Have you already updated to iPad baseband? If you have u cannot do a normal restore u must use custom firmware.

If you have not got iPad baseband try this. Open Tiny Umbrella, go to advance mode unchecked box that says edit host file to Cydia on exit. Close tiny Umbrella. Then try restore in iTunes again.

is redsnow the only way to get ipad bb? since pwnagetool 3.1.4 skips this step?

After Redsn0w, and the whole redsn0w process on the iphone, my phone shows a black screen with a silver apple logo and the loading wheel. How do i fix this?
