Default Unlock for 4.2.1 now more likely since it has been jailbroken??

Just bought a brand new iphone 4 on ebay that someone has had as an upgrade. Seller stated that his t-mobile sim works but unsure on other networks. Foolishly I purchased thinking my vodafone sim would work or I could just get it unlocked

After having a good read here it looks like I have no chance of getting my sim to work and I haven't even received my iphone yet.

I know the jailbreak for 4.2.1 has just come out and I assume the iphone will be on that ios with a baseband that can't be changed or whatever. Is it now more likely that an unlock will come along because of this new jailbreak or should I just sell the phone on, take the loss and buy one thats locked to vodafone?

Thanks for any help, should have looked into it more before parting with 450 well earned pounds

A unlock won't be out until after 4.3 comes out.

    Default Regarding Unlock...

An unlock isn't coming out!!! You guys sit around and wait for an unlock to come out and you be waiting for nothing!!! It's obvious they have no unlock at this point. You see all they do is feed you more and more bs!! Just go to AT&T and now Verizon so you don't have to worry about waiting waiting oh did I mention waiting for an unlock!!!

I wouldn't say an unlock isn't coming out. I am sure one will be out at some point. Always does.
I have a factory unlocked iPhone so it doesn't really affect me anyway.

So a factory unlocked iphone will work with any sim no matter what the baseband? I was told any iphone 4 will lock as soon as you sync with itunes?

Could I not get it unlocked via T-mobile if I contacted the original seller? Or perhaps via apple store if I pay a fee?

    Thanks all

Factory unlocked ones are unlocked no matter what you do. You can try to see if tmobile will unlock it. Some carriers do. Some don't.
