    Default Dead iphone 3G 4.1 bb 05.14

I'm trying to help a friend who has a Japanese 3G and now it is dead! The phone was jailbroken & unlocked, and one way or another after she connected to itunes the phone entered the DFU mode and by seen the screen it says that it needs to be connected to itunes to get restored. From what I noticed, the phone got probably updated and it can't get out of the recovery. The reason I'm saying is, that the ios is 4.1 and the bb became 05.14.XXX. I tried to kick the device out of recovery with Tiny Umbrella & it didn't help. I haven't save any SHSHs, but per Tiny Umbrella there are 4 SHSHs saved for this device ranging from 4.0-4.2b3.
By the way when I got the phone I got the message in itunes that the phone has an invalid SIM card & I need to replace the SIM or contact...whatever. I also got the screen for emergency calls ony!
What are my options? I tried to downgrade (to iPhone1,2_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw)with Tiny Umbrella & iTunes & I get at the end an error 1015 & off course the phone can't get revived!
Your input will be more than appreciated.
The way I see it, as a last resort, is to let itunes do its work, if restore is successful, to 4.2 and the paperweight wakes up, then it would be the long way with the ipad bb. Or am I wrong? By the way the model# is MB496 & the bootloader 5.9, as per forecast, but now when I run it, I don't get any info! iAnnie's & x98car's inputs would be more than welcome. Thanx in advance.

Just try restoring to 4.0 or 4.1 again. When you get the 1015 error use tiny umbrella to exit recovery.

Taken care! Of course I aged by a decade, but who cares, I did it! Don't ask me how many times I ran the prog. It took me almost 2 days! I gave up after 1 1/2 day, then I reread the instruction & 'voila', it is running! It is funny though, I used the ios 4.2 & the ipad fw, but the phone still says ios v.4.1! But it is jailbroken & unlocked on 06.15, thanxs to all the real 'wise guys' of this forum. I am tempted to do the same to my AT&T locked 3GS 32GB, on ios 4.1 bb: 5.14....
