No it won't. Just connect the device and sync.

Yup, just put the sim in and plug it in. You should get a message saying you are unlocked. After you can update to 4.2.1 if you want, just be aware if you want to jailbreak it may be tethered depending on your device.
In certain countries you can request your carrier to unlock it for you. ATT wont do it though.Last edited by Simon; 02-01-2011 at 09:04 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hi I popped my dads sim card in a sync it. It asked for his pin and I put it in. It never games me a message on iTunes to say it was unlocked do. It is unlocked with the jailbreak would that have anything to do with it.

Did you sync it? Have you tried another carrier sim?

Yeah I put in a different carrier then synced that. Still no joy would it matter that it's unlocked with ultrasnow.

Yes I'm on 02 Ireland. They sent the request to apple and apple sent me on the text. I put a meteor Ireland sim card in and synced in I tunes. It says I should receive a message saying the phone is unlocked but I got nothing. 02 said I should try restore but that would lose my jailbreak would it?

It will lock the phone again. Then iTunes "should" unlock it after that.

Yep that worked. I just deleted ultra snow and synced it then with a different sim and the message popped up. Now would I be save enough no to upgrade to 4.2 and be able to jailbreak again ok without messing around with my baseband. Version 4.0.1(8a306). Model MC133b. Firmware 05.13.04

You will be safe to update as far as unlocking is concerned. The jailbreak may be tethered depending on what bootrom you have though.

How can I check the bootrom. I followed a tutorial there to find out but just got this. USB\vid_05ac&pid_1227\5&e59a2ee&0&2
