Hi there, I have been having some really big problems trying to unlock my sons iPhone. It's a 2g iphone, and I have downloaded all the necessary files and firmwares. I.e. ipsw, and bootloader files via redsnow. Followed the instructions to a T. Must have tried 8 times now.
Every single time iTunes says my sim card is not supported.
At present the phone cannot be activated so I can't check the stats on it. I was thinking maybe there night be a very small chance that I'm downloading the wrong firmware for the version of phone ? I can't cone up with a better reason. It's a silver backed iPhone (2g ?). Downloaded iphone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw and both boot loader files 3.9 and 4.6 with redsnow.
Is there a way I can confirm EXACTLY what I need to download. The actual unlocking process is the easy bit yeh ?
After all my attempts it would seem operator error would be the best description for the situation. As with most cases like this 99.9% of the time it's the operator that's at fault. I tried Pwnage tool at least 18 to 20 times and eventually realized i not pointing Pwnage tool to the correct ipsw. Case closed, phone is now unlocked and working. Thanks for your guidance.
