Default Is it bricked? - Help!!!

I updated to iPad baseband and then Jailbroke with redsn0w 0.9.6b5.
    I then unlocked with ultran0w.
I put in the Etisalat (UAE) Sim and it was recognised.
I made a phone call and I phoned the iPhone - both were successful.
I then switched off the iPhone to remove the SIM and replace it in my own phone.
When I put in a second SIM and turned the phone on all I could get was the "connect iTunes" logo.
I cannot understand how it worked for 2 calls only.
I have Googled and tried everything to get rid of the connect to itunes with no success.

All of the solutions that I have read to these problems require you to start with the iphone connected to the PC and powered off.
My iPhone is stuck in restore mode with the "connect to itunes" logo showing.
I can turn the iphone off by holding down the power button for 4 or 5 seconds but as soon as I plug it into the PC it powers up to the itunes connect logo.
Supposedly, if I hold down the power button I should get the slide to power off appear but the screen just goes blank. If I then release the power button the iphone starts up again.
    what should I do???

If you are talking abot dfu then it does not require the phone to be off. You can get into dfu just as easily with the phone on or in recovery or boot loop
