Risks of ipad baseband?

What are the risks of updating to a ipad firmware to unlock my Iphone on 5.14 base band? Its been 3 months since I actually used my iphone as a phone and I'm getting tired of waiting for some one to crack it.

Biggest one is your gps will not work well. Second biggest is for future firmware you will need custom firmware if you want to update.
