iPhone 3G getting Error code 1015 on restore

Hey guys, just joined your fine site. I actually use this forum alot for troubleshooting me and my friends' phones quite often, pretty much every problem I've ever had has been answered on this board!

This time I've run into a problem and wasn't able to find a solution that worked, so I thought I'd make a post and ask for help.

I bought an iPhone 3G 8gb on craigslist, now it was unlocked and jailbroken on 4.0 or 4.1 not 100% sure. The guy I bought it from didn't restore it or anything, he just took out his sim card and handed me the phone when I met up with him, he had been using it to talk to me on the way there.

When I got home I gave it to my friend and he connected it to his computer, this is where the trouble started. he put in his Rogers sim card, and when he connected it to the computer he said it started acting weird.

Long story short, he brings it back to me and it only shows the "Connect to itunes" logo

I tried restoring it, but I keep getting the error 1015.

I found a solution here on this site,
it said to use quickpwn? I removed it now, but the icon for it was a pineapple, it wouldn't detect the phone

however this hasn't worked for me, I then tried with redsn0w as well, but the ipsw files I downloaded aren't showing up when I browse for them.

next I tried ibrickr, this one didn't detect the phone at all when connected to the pc.

So I beg of you fine folks, please help me!

try using tiny umbrealla to kick it out of dfu.
Also 3gs run best on 3.1.3 so you can downgrade to that then jailbreak with jailbreakme.com

so put it into dfu mode and then run this tiny umbrella?

also, if I'm downgrading to 3.1.3, do I need to download that firmware to my pc and save it for when I run the umbrella software?

No sorry i thought you were already in dfu.
Put the phone in dfu and just restore to 3.1.3

ok when I'm restoring, will it give me the option to choose the firmware? or do I need to have the firmware version downloaded and saved to my pc?

You need to download the fw to you computer and click shift alt restore and select the fw bundle
