Stupid Question--Remove Unlock?
I am moving my son's 3G iPhone back to ATT. We're on T-Mobile now. I have a new IP4 coming and just ordered a free phone for him to get a sim card.
How do I remove the unlock but keep his jailbreak? I feel that the unlock on a 3G, 4.2.1, is making his phone really slow and unresponsive. I want to take the unlock completely off and activate his phone normally.
What's the best plan here?

I doubt if the unlock is what is slowing down the phone, the 3g has trouble with being slow to start with, having the iOS 4 and a jailbreak is more than likely what is slowing the phone down. If you really want to remove it you'll just have to restore it with new firmware and rejailbreak.
If you ever need another sim just ask AT&T for one, they'll give you a sim no charge.

If I get the firmware again and jailbreak, do I select "yes" or "no" when it asks about activation? I'll have the ATT card in then. I've always said "no" since I was on T-Mobile.
There's no way to remove UltraSnow? That's the unlock--right?Last edited by stevehookem; 01-25-2011 at 12:37 PM.

Don't know of a way to remove Ultrasn0w other than restoring. Since you'll be activating with an AT&T sim you should be able to check "no" and just activate through iTunes.

Select NO to the jailbreak activation question and let iTunes activate it with the AT&T SIM.
And like x98car said: just uninstall ultrasn0w via Cydia. Piece of cake. An iPhone that 'can' be unlocked does not require it. It only means the modem firmware/baseband is capable if/when ultrasn0w is installed.
BTW: Unlockable basebands have greater resale value
