iPhone 3GS New bootrom unlocking

I have an iphone 3gs on 4.1 and I need to unlock it, would the correct way about jailbreaking and unlocking this would be to make a custom ipsw with ipad baseband using pwnage tool. then restore to custom firmware file? then run greenpois0n over the the phone after its on 4.2.1 w/ ipad baseband to acheive an untethered jailbreak?

The easiest way is to just use redsnow 0.9.6rc8 to install cydia and the ipad baseband. No restoring required.

On 4.1 yes it will be.

okay now I have one more question, if I have a 3GS on the new bootrom 4.2.1 and I need to jailbreak and unlock it untethered can I do what is decribed above, restore to custom ipsw with ipad baseband then us greenpoison to rejailbreak it to achieve a untethered jailbreak?

No, greenpoison doesnt work on 4.2.1 yet. New bootrom will be tethered on 4.2.1 unless you have 4.2b3 SHSH and use the redsnow beta.

NewGreenpoison it says its for 4.2.1 and supports the 3GS?

hmmm it seems to be a fake website because they use a "o" instead of a "0" in pois0n

iPad baseband on a 3GS?!
This one is new bootrom and jailbroken (pwned) for the first time on 4.1, with bb 5.13.04 preserved. Ultrasn0w doesn't work, I tried 3 different versions.
I don't mind the 4.1 version, could be 4.2.x if necessary. I would just want it to be unlocked (and without a "userland"-jailbreak).

Hoping for an explanation !

He didnt have a unlockable baseband. You do. Do not install the iPad baseband. If you cannot get signal after installing ultrasnow then something else is the issue.

When I got it it was stuck on 4.02 and I couldn't save the blobs. I restored it several times to Custom 4.1 as I can't get back. A "clean" restore would be maybe required, but then...

Not too sure what it could be. Have you tried turning off 3G, or different sim cards?

I rarely use 3G, it doesn't work here ^^
And I did not have the opportunity to use other SIM-cards.
I just made sure that the phone isn't operator-unlocked.

Yes I should ! (not so easy in the countryside to ask somebody to borrow a SIM card. And hoping it's a recent one ^^)
One detail makes me think that it's a software (not antenna) problem : With ultrasn0w 1.1-1 I had 5 bars and operator showing up. (but no service).

How can you have no service and five bars? That doesn't make sense.

On the other hand, reasons can be where one shouldn't think of.
(Last year, my own 3GS was often dumb and deaf while receiving calls. After having changed SIM card (which didn't help) LiveClock has been updated. This possible problem was mentioned in the changes, and then gone.
While the 3G with the same installation had not been affected.)

I can only think of a system default :
In the programs, iFile doesn't work correctly, neither.
I talked with Carsten Heinelt who couldn't think of any valid reason as we checked it.
Normally, PwnageTool makes a deep restore when asked, doesn't it ? Would you think it would make a difference a to start by the iPhone's reinitialization menu ? That's the only thing I haven't done yet.

I Pwned several times (from clean iTunes copies version 9.2.1 which should do : I hate updating iTunes

Hi again.

It's still as unlogical... 5 strong bars, no phone service.
I don't know much about fixing hardware (I didn't get further than changing a battery) so I asked - and got told it couldn't be a hardware issue.

Data work perfectly, but no phone, no SMS :-(

Edit : forecast says Unlockable : No ...but it's unlocked with ultrasn0w... bb 5.13.04 IS unlockable !
