Iphone 3GS 3.1.3 with Baseband 5.12.01

Hi I made the custom file and during the restore process it gave me the error 21 saying it cannot restore the iphone and is now booting up to the connect to itunes screen on iphone..

Please advise on what to do from here?

You need to put the phone into pwned dfu. You can use either ireb or preferrably redsnow to do this. Once in pwned dfu then you can restore to the custom firmware without getting the error.

Somehow I got back .. nothing happened.. still in the old 3.1.3.. So still do I need to use ireb or redsnow..?

Steps I have done..

1) Backedup SHSH's using tinyumbrella
2)downloaded SnowBreeze 2.1 & IPSW from Apple
3)Selected the Expert Mode-->General option on Snow Breeze added ultrasnow to the package--> Checked Hackivate option
4)Build the IPSW File
5) Tried to restore the iphone using the new file holding SHIFT button

and later got the error..

Do I need to do anything with the SHSH I downloaded.. because during my last unlock with 3.1.3 my SHSH was stored in Cydia..

Used Redsnow and now my base band got updated
it is showing
Version 4.1
Carrier:Carrier 8.0
Modem Firmware :05.14.02

and it seems unlocked... not finding my network..

So I am stuck..

Help Please?
have this baseband got an unlock?

Why did you update to a regular 4.1? The snowbreeze tutorial was right there.
The only way for you to unlock now is to update to the ipad baseband using redsnow 0.9.6rc8.

Use redsnow 0.9.6rc8
Browse for 4.1 regular firmware
Choose to install cydia and to install ipad baseband.
Follow the steps for entering dfu then let redsnow do its thing
Once rebooted after letting redsnow to everything on the phone install ultrasnow from cydia to unlock.
