SAM upgrade
Cydia has an upgrade for SAM and SAMprefs. Can I download these without screwing up the activation on my phone?

Usually Cydia upgrades don't mess the phone up. If there is an upgrade, it is usually beneficial to use them, so you may do so.

Lol I meant old as opposed to new not old as opposed to young. :P
Ok here's another issue. After the sam upgrade, my iPhone has drained like crazy today. I checked sam in my settings and it says wildcats activated, samstate waiting for response. I can't deactivate and do the lockdownd thing

when you say it drains crazily fast, how long does it take to get from 100% to 20%.

I have a 3GS and installed the updates to SAM and SAMPrefs and then got the same error: SAMState: Waiting for response.
I went back into Cydia and re-installed both modules. Then the problem was solved. It appears that the ACutil module does not get installed properly. To install both parts properly, Queue them up and then run the install.
Now, Settings-> SAM works fine and displays all the proper status...

lost activation after deinstalling sam
hi there,
i had a nice jailbreaked iphone4 fw 4.3.1 baseband 1.59.00. everything fine. the notifications weren't working anymore so i read an article, that told me, to install sam, to fix this problem...
i did. but it didn't work. after deinstalling sam, i lost the activation of my phone.
the funny thing, springboard is still workin.. even mywi... and i can grab the photos via iphoto as well...
but the phone is still deactivated. what can i do, to activate simple and fast again?
thank you guys

akimbalthsar,
I'm no expert but I believe that you only need to activate the phone if you rely on a carrier Unlock. If not, you should be able to simply Jailbreak the phone.
What did you use to jb the phone? You should always use a tool which does not upgrade the baseband such as PwnageTool or Sn0wBreeze.
You could try to re-jb the phone and enable the 'Hackivate' option in the custom IPSW build...
