No one knows, but the iOS is very likely to be the latest - 4.2.1. Also, since it's a new phone, you will only have SHSH blobs for 4.2.1.

How long to wait for an unlock? Maybe never, maybe 6 or more months. Don't expect anything and be happy if/when it comes. If an unlock is needed, spend the extra money and buy it factory unlocked. Save yourself the headaches.

Why not buy it from Vodaphone. The factory unlock are Sterling 510 for 16g from Apple Store UK.
